Coach Micheal Burt introduced his qualities of a “Nexpert” to me last year. This is a person who anticipates the needs of the leader.

Coach Burt’s “Nexpert” concept ultimately grew into the company I have now started, NEXTPERT, which is being a Next Generation Leader who lives each day with purpose and passion towards a dominant focus in their life.

My dominant focus is to be THE leadership expert for our generation and to consult, train, but most importantly LEAD the Next Generation. This will be achieved by speaking, writing, mentoring, and earning my Ph.D. on leadership and organizational management.

Since Coach Burt’s “Nexpert” idea was the genesis of creating my philosophy as a NEXTPERT I thought I should visit what an “exceptional assistant” looks like.

Coach and I had a discussion about the exceptional leader yesterday on our way to the Coach Micheal Burt Radio Show which I travel to every week (backstage scenes can be found below).

We left for the show just a little bit earlier than normal because we anticipated heavier traffic due to the Tennessee Titans first home game. It’s a good thing too because traffic was at a stand-still but we still ended up making it into the studio during our normal arrival time.

ANTICIPATE

Anticipation is the key to any “exceptional assistant”. You want to remove any roadblocks for the person you are serving. This is usually done by going over any possible scenario that may occur. Be two steps ahead of every move of your employer. Always go above and beyond your expectations and when you’ve done what is asked request for more.

For instance, in Coach’s line of work there is a lot of travel with very little time in-between. Each engagement is carefully scheduled and time is always tight. Therefore, it is crucial to have directions or your GPS ready to get from point A to point B to point C and the time it will take and potential construction problems. This is what an exceptional assistant does.

Become irreplaceable to the person you work for and the quickest way to do so is through anticipation. REMOVE ALL ROADBLOCKS.
